the construction of a new jehovah’s witnesses kingdom hall in cybinka, poland, has once again shed light on the watchtower organization’s relentless drive to expand its real estate empire on the backs of unpaid, vulnerable volunteers.

every day, around 40 jehovah’s witnesses show up at the construction site, some traveling long distances, not for pay or proper protection, but to fulfill a sense of “spiritual duty” instilled by the organization.

Here is my take. The cavalier early days of quick build ethos are long gone. Health and safety is taken seriously and policed by experienced (often officious) people.

In the UK for some reason the usual regulations applied to commercial operations do not apply so there is no official accident investigation. I have heard of serious accident resulting in hospitalisation and months off work without official come back.

Another factor is the fact that WT org does not insure the sites or work or rather they self insure. This means there is no insurance investigation either. The people I know that have been injured have not received any compensation. Trying to claim from WT is like getting blood from a stone.

Serious sinner?

with the statement in the study watchtower this sunday, that stop serving jehovah is a serious sin, the following:.

- can i conclude now, that we, (i, wife and 2 children), since 2008 pomo and no longer active in any religious activity, are serious sinners for jehovahs witnesses?.

writing this in a watchtower, a statement like that, could have big implications.. it makes me so sad.

Yes, that was noted and discussed with Mrs S F. They keep slipping in these stiletto ideas between your ribs designed to foster guilt and fear.

Last week it was "Another might be strongly inclined toward unclean practices, such as masturbation or viewing pornography. Still another may be struggling with fear of man, independent thinking, a quick temper, or something else. As James states, “each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire.”—Jas. 1:14."

Notice what they did there? Masturbation, porn, independent thinking. Oh the guilt! How do any keep their sanity?

The World Today

i've been meaning to share some recent experiences that defy the usual tropes about the 'world gone to hell' or 'people now days".. as some of you may remember i was seriously ill for a while and had to close my business and shop.

now, as it seems i have beaten it, i put up a sign again advertising that in a limited way i'm back.. what amazes me is how many times over the past 2 years customers and even competition have written and called to express their concern and best wishes.

just last week i had a personal visit of someone who i thought of as a rival, come in and shake my hand sincerely happy to see me up and around.

Hi PP, I'm ashamed to say that I had not picked up on your illness. I do however share your optimism about the amount of simple human love and decency that are about. I have experienced it in countless ways, too small to mention but that add up to a lot.

I hope that you get stronger and properly back on your feet and flourish.

when i was a teenager i was a pretty gifted writer and was put in academic and ap classes for english/lit classes.

they have a "presenter" who comes across as an educated historian handling early bible fragments and translations as if he knows what he's doing.

the impression given is that he is an unassailable font of all knowledge, with his rich scottish accent he prints himself as across as professor gravitas.. i find this disturbing, we have no idea who he is or what if any his qualifications are to speak such with authority.

Yep AF, I think that's him, Andy Schofield. He seems to be a very competent presenter apparently an ex CS.

My concern is that the skill and polish of the man and his confident handling of the early manuscripts lend him an educated aura that I don't believe he deserves. The material he presented, I would say, has been around since the "Scripture Inspired" book in 1963. It is now elevated to a pseudo documentary apparently presented by an historian with a deep well of learning and research behind him. I don't think he has any right to respect, he assumes the gloss of hard earned qualifications without doing the hard miles.More fraud.

I admit that I am making assumptions in saying this. Maybe someone knows him and can throw light on the subject.
